Labor Day! Honors Winsor McCay!

Today is an American holiday.  Animation is an American art form; created and developed right here in America.  In honor of such hard work and patriotism, I'm bringing out the first animated short from a man later known as 'the father of animation', none other than Winsor McCay, and his 1911 piece "Little Nemo".

All animation people should know his work.  Winsor McCay's work started animation off at such a high level of excellence, we must strive to follow in his footsteps and keep this unique art form in the highest levels of artistry and fun.

Most people have seen parts of Winsor McCay's next animated short, "Gertie the Dinosaur" (1914).  A must for dinosaur and animation lovers alike.  Or anybody like likes cool stuff.

Amazing artist, incredible draftsman!

Here's a little taste of his incredible traditional work.

Emery Hawkins Animation Quote of the Day!

Emery Hawkins,

"The only limitation in animation is the person doing it. Otherwise there is no limit to what you can do, and why shouldn't you do it?"

Angular Abstract BW

A beautiful abstract piece, that is somewhere between a kaleidoscope and an inkblot test.  The more I see it, the more I like it.

Backyard Communion Cartoon (based on a true story)

Perhaps, when my mother-in-law (who is awesome) was a kid, she 'acquired' some consecrated bread to hold her own backyard mass.  Her only parish was her dog and stuffed animals for the receiving of the Eucharist.  Executed with according to tradition, almost.

Universe Abstract

A abstract design (pen on paper), representing many contrasting forces that balance our universe.

Awesome swirly design, form the depths of me mind. Enjoy

Matt Cain's Perfect Game!!

Exactly 2 months after the amazing feat, I release this tribute to San Francisco's Matt Cain, who threw a perfect game on June 13th against the Houston Astros!

The 1st perfect game in the 128 years of Giants baseball, a team with more than their share of hall of fame pitchers.

For those not savvy in the ways of baseball, a perfect game is when not a single player on a team gets on base.  No hits, no walks, no bean ball free rides, and no errors. = Amazing!!!
